KY 2084 is reopening to two-way traffic
The traffic shift on a portion of US 41 in Henderson will soon be complete. Two lanes of traffic on US 41 South just north of the KY 351/2nd Street exit are expected to shift to new alignment by next week. To prepare for the shift, US 41 South is expected to be reduced to one lane between KY 351/2nd Street and US 60 beginning Friday, June 7 and ending early Wednesday, June 12.
Both lanes of southbound traffic are expected to be on the new roadway (future I-69) by early Wednesday morning.
Northbound traffic shifted to the new roadway earlier this week.
With the shift, crews will be able to complete needed road and bridge work in the area and build the new Kimsey Lane connection over to Van Wyk Road and complete the Merrill Trail Extension.
Van Wyk Closure
With US 41 traffic shifted to the new pavement, one of the first things that crews will do is demolish the old US 41 southbound overpass bridge over Van Wyk Road.
To accommodate the demolition work, Van Wyk Road will be closed under US 41. The closure is expected to begin Wednesday, June 12 and end Friday, June 14.
KY 2084 Reopening to Two-Way Traffic
KY 2084 is scheduled to reopen to northbound traffic on Saturday, June 8. The KY 2084 ramp currently ends in a T-intersection. Drivers had been able to turn only left onto KY 2084 South.
They’ll now to be able to turn left or right on KY 2084 (see second map).
There will be a temporary 3-way stop in place to help ensure traffic moves safely and efficiently through the area.
Long-Term Ramp Closures Begin Soon
Reopening KY 2084 to two-way traffic will help accommodate two longer-term ramp closures in the area. The on and off ramps from US 41 South to KY 351/2nd Street are scheduled to close later this month and remain closed for about six weeks. The closures are expected to begin around Monday, June 17 and end in late July.
A signed detour will be in place. More information will be provided closer to date.
Noise Barrier Work
Crews will also begin work soon on the first noise barriers that will be installed in the I-69 Ohio River Crossing Section 1 project area. Noise barriers will first be installed at Adams Lane. A large crane will be used to place the noise barriers. The work is expected to begin around Wednesday, June 12 and continue through mid-July. Noise barriers will also be located at Melwood Drive and Vanguard Avenue.
Slow Down in Construction Zones
As always, drivers are encouraged to slow down and stay alert as they adjust to new traffic patterns.
Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur.
