Traffic shift planned at KY 2084

Additional traffic restrictions and changes are planned at KY 351/2nd Street as crews continue to reconstruct the interchange with the future I-69 as part of Section 1 of the I-69 Ohio River Crossing. The two new roundabouts west of US 41 are expected to open to traffic before the start of the new school year in August.

What to Expect
One lane will be closed in each direction on KY 351/2nd Street, extending from near Klutey Park Plaza Drive west of North Middle School to Arlington Drive west of Henderson County High School. The lane closures are expected to begin on or after Saturday, May 11 and remain in place throughout the summer.

Traffic will be reduced to 25 miles per hour in the area. Drivers are encouraged to slow down and stay alert in the area.

“We know the significant work underway will impact drivers and their daily commutes,” said Emily Deason, project manager with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. “We work hard to keep traffic flowing as efficiently as possible. These closures are needed to ensure our crews have the room they need to safely work in the area and keep the project on schedule.”

Congestion and delays are expected. Flaggers may be used periodically, as needed.

KY 2084 Exit Traffic Shift
Drivers taking Exit 13 to KY 2084 from US 41 South will notice a traffic change.  The ramp will end at a T-intersection with KY 2084 with drivers able to turn left onto KY 2084 South. KY 2084 could reopen to northbound traffic later this month. The roadway is being widened to allow for future two-way traffic.

Van Wyk Road Short-Term Closure
A one-day closure is planned for Van Wyk Road this Friday, May 10. Van Wyk will be closed between Kimsey Lane and 5th Street. The closure is expected to begin early Friday morning and end by late afternoon.

Future Ramp Closures
In addition to the lane closures on KY 351/2nd Street, the on and off ramps from US 41 South to KY 351/2nd Street are expected to close soon and remain closed for much of the summer. The ramps are expected to close in June and remain closed for about 40 days. A signed detour will be in place. More information about the anticipated start of the closure and details of the detour will be shared closer to date.

Additional Work Areas
I-69 ORX crews are working throughout the entire Section 1 corridor in Henderson, from KY 425 (Henderson Bypass) to US 60. Drivers can expect to see traffic restrictions throughout the area. Drivers should expect to see work and related restrictions in the following areas:

  • US 41 between KY 425 Bypass and US 60 interchange
  • Audubon Parkway at US 41 exit ramps

Drivers are encouraged to slow down, stay alert and watch for new traffic patterns. Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur.
